‘জ্বালানি তেলের মূল্যবৃদ্ধি সাধারণ মানুষের জন্য ‘গোদের উপর বিষ ফোঁড়া’ হয়ে দাড়াবে। কারণ, এই মূল্যবৃদ্ধি সরাসরি নিত্যপণ্যের মূল্য ও জীবনযাত্রার ব্যয়ের ওপর দ্বিগুণ চাপ সৃষ্টি করবে। সাধারণ মানুষ যখন দ্রব্যমূল্যের চাপে আগে থেকেই নাজেহাল, তখন জ্বালানির এই মূল্যবৃদ্ধি তাদের সংকটকে আরও তীব্র করে তুলবে’ বলে মন্তব্য করেছেন বাংলাদেশ ন্যাশনাল আওয়ামী পার্টি-বাংলাদেশ ন্যাপ চেয়ারম্যান জেবেল রহমান গানি ও মহাসচিব এম. গোলাম মোস্তফা ভুইয়া।
রবিবার (১৯ এপ্রিল) গণমাধ্যমে পাঠানো বাংলাদেশ ন্যাপ প্রচার সম্পাদক গোলাম মোস্তাকিন ভুইয়া স্বাক্ষরিত এক বিবৃতিতে শীর্ষ নেতৃদ্বয় এ মন্তব্য করেছেন।
বিশ্ববাজারে জ্বালানি তেলের দাম নিম্নমুখী হলেও বাংলাদেশে মূল্য সমন্বয়ের নামে নতুন করে মূল্যবৃদ্ধির সরকারী সিদ্ধান্তের তীব্রসমালোচনা করে তারা বলেন, ‘বিশ্ববাজারে যেই মুহুর্তে জ্বালানি তেলের মূল্য হ্রাস পাচ্ছে, ঠিক সেই মহুর্তে বাংলাদেশে মূল্য সমন্বয়ের নামে রবিবার থেকে জ্বালানি তেলের মূল্যবৃদ্ধির ঘোষণা অত্যন্ত দুঃখজনক ও জণস্বার্থ বিরোধী। যখন নিত্যপণ্যের ঊর্ধ্বমূল্যে সাধারণ মানুষের জীবনযাত্রার ব্যয় নির্বাহে হাঁসফাঁস করছে। জ্বালানি তেলের মূল্যবৃদ্ধির মাধ্যমে সরকারের জ্বালানি মন্ত্রী প্রমান করলো আসলে জনগণের কষ্ট তাদের হৃদয়কে স্পর্শ করে না। তারা শাসক হয়ে শোষকের ভুমিকা পালন করতে সাচ্ছন্দ বোধ করে।’
নেতৃদ্বয় আরও বলেন, ‘একেই অক্টেন-পেট্রোল-ডিজেলে রক্ষা নেই, ‘গোদের উপর বিষ ফোড়াঁ’ গরিবের কেরোসিনও বাদ পড়ে নাই। নীলাভ তরলের মূল্যবৃদ্ধির ফলে নাজেহাল সাধারণ মানুষ। জ্বালানি তেলের এই মূল্যবৃদ্ধির ফলে পরিবহন খরচ বৃদ্ধি পাবে, যার সরাসরি প্রভাব পড়বে নিত্যপ্রয়োজনীয় পণ্যের ওপর। এতে সাধারণ মানুষের জীবনযাত্রার ব্যয় বহুগুণ বৃদ্ধি পাবে। ইতিমধ্যে অর্থনৈতিক সংকটে থাকা সাধারণ মানুষের জন্য তেলের অতিরিক্ত মূল্য পরিশোধ করা নতুন একটি বোঝা বা ‘বিষফোড়াঁ’র মতো হয়ে দাঁড়াবে। ’
তারা বলেন, এ্কই সাথে কৃষি ও শিল্প খাতে সেচ এবং মেশিনের জন্য জ্বালানি প্রয়োজন হয়। মূল্যবৃদ্ধির ফলে, শিল্প-কারখানার উৎপাদন ব্যয় বৃদ্ধি পাবে, যা শেষ পর্যন্ত পণ্যের মূল্যে প্রতিফলিত হবে। এতে বাজারে মূল্যস্ফীতি আরও তীব্র আকার ধারণ করতে পারে। একই সঙ্গে কৃষি খাতও বড় ধরনের চাপের মুখে পড়বে। সেচ, পরিবহন ও কৃষি উপকরণের খরচ বেড়ে যাওয়ায় কৃষকের উৎপাদন ব্যয় বৃদ্ধি পাবে, যা খাদ্য নিরাপত্তার জন্য হুমকিস্বরূপ। যা সামগ্রিক অর্থনীতিতে নেতিবাচক প্রভাব ফেলতে বাধ্য।’
বিবৃতিতে ‘জনগণের সার্বিক অবস্থার কথা চিন্তা করে অবিলম্বে জ্বালানি তেলের মূল্যবৃদ্ধির সিদ্ধান্ত পুনর্বিবেচনা করে তা সহনীয় পর্যায়ে নামিয়ে আনার জন্য বাংলাদেশ ন্যাপ সরকারের প্রতি জোর দাবি জানায়।’
Fuel price hike ‘poison on the head’: Bangladesh NAP
‘The fuel price hike will become a ‘poison on the head’ for the common people. Because, this price hike will directly create double pressure on the price of daily commodities and the cost of living. When the common people are already suffering from the pressure of commodity prices, this fuel price hike will further intensify their crisis,’ said Bangladesh National Awami Party-Bangladesh NAP Chairman Jebel Rahman Ghani and Secretary General M. Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan.
The two top leaders made this comment in a statement signed by Bangladesh NAP Publicity Secretary Golam Mostakin Bhuiyan sent to the media on Sunday (April 19).
Even though the price of fuel oil is declining in the world market, they strongly criticized the government’s decision to increase prices again in the name of price adjustment in Bangladesh, saying, “At the moment when the price of fuel oil is decreasing in the world market, the announcement of increasing the price of fuel oil from Sunday in the name of price adjustment in Bangladesh is very sad and against the public interest. When the common people are struggling to meet their living expenses due to the high prices of daily necessities. By increasing the price of fuel oil, the government’s energy minister has proven that the suffering of the people does not touch their hearts. They feel comfortable playing the role of exploiters as rulers.”
The leaders also said, “There is no protection in octane-petrol-diesel, ‘poison on the back’, even the poor’s kerosene is not left out. The common people are suffering due to the increase in the price of the blue liquid. This increase in the price of fuel oil will increase the cost of transportation, which will directly affect the daily necessities.” This will increase the cost of living of the common people many times over. For the common people who are already in financial crisis, paying the additional price of oil will become a new burden or a ‘poisonous burden’.
They said that at the same time, the agricultural and industrial sectors need fuel for irrigation and machinery. As a result of the price increase, the production costs of industries and factories will increase, which will ultimately be reflected in the price of goods. This may lead to more severe inflation in the market. At the same time, the agricultural sector will also face major pressure. The increase in the cost of irrigation, transportation and agricultural inputs will increase the production costs of farmers, which is a threat to food security. Which is bound to have a negative impact on the overall economy.
In the statement, ‘Considering the overall condition of the people, Bangladesh NAP strongly demands the government to immediately reconsider the decision to increase the price of fuel oil and reduce it to a tolerable level.’
